Makassar, January 21, 2024 — Politeknik Pariwisata Makassar has taken another significant step in its mission to produce highly skilled graduates by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Aston Hotel Makassar and Aryaduta Makassar. The Director of Politeknik Pariwisata Makassar, Dr. H. Herry Rachmat Widjaja, MM.Par., along with his management team and both hotels’ General Managers and leadership teams

This collaboration is part of the Industry-Based Learning (IBL) program, designed to equip Culinary Arts students with hands-on experience aligned with industry needs. Now entering its second phase, the program focuses on six key learning outcomes:
- Professional Attitude
Students will demonstrate professionalism by upholding ethics, integrity, and responsibility, individually and as part of a team, in adherence to global standards. - Problem-Solving and Innovation
They will critically analyze and resolve culinary and kitchen operational challenges through innovative and accountable approaches. - Communication and Technology
Students will effectively communicate in Indonesian and English and utilize technology for academic and professional development in the culinary field. - Teamwork and Leadership
They will collaborate in multidisciplinary teams, lead culinary projects, and precisely document their work. - Food Safety and Production Knowledge
Students will master food safety principles, sanitation protocols, and commercial production procedures that meet industry standards. - Kitchen Management and Operations
They will develop skills in managing kitchen operations, organizing inventory, ensuring quality control, and addressing operational challenges efficiently.
The program adopts the PID (Perfection, Interpretation, Desire) evaluation method, prioritizing practical, real-world experiences. This approach ensures students meet the established learning outcomes while building their professional expertise.
The signing ceremony was mediated by SwissContact, which fosters collaboration between education institutions and industries to develop a highly skilled workforce. Through this partnership, Culinary Arts students from Politeknik Pariwisata Makassar will gain invaluable practical experience at Aston Hotel Makassar and Aryaduta Makassar.

Following the MoU signing, the process will continue with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and an Implementation Agreement aimed at diving deeper into the technical aspects and ensuring the effective execution of the program. These next steps are critical to solidifying the partnership and translating the vision into actionable results.
Dr. H. Herry Rachmat Widjaja, MM.Par.CHE., Director of Politeknik Pariwisata Makassar, emphasized the strategic importance of this collaboration. “Industry-based learning provides our students with invaluable real-world experience, preparing them to excel in the workforce,” he stated.
The General Managers of Aston Hotel Makassar and Aryaduta Makassar echoed this sentiment, expressing their commitment to supporting students by offering them hands-on training in a professional work environment.
With the launch of the second phase of the Industry-Based Learning program, Politeknik Pariwisata Makassar reaffirms its dedication to advancing vocational education and positioning the Culinary Arts program as a leader in developing professional chefs ready to compete on a global stage.
