Poltekpar Makassar Celebrates Culinary Excellence Through Food Voyage Festival 2025

Bagikan :

The Food Voyage Festival returned in full spirit at Politeknik Pariwisata (Poltekpar) Makassar, once again highlighting the remarkable progress of students in the Culinary Arts (Seni Kuliner) Study Program, particularly from Class B.

This vibrant event not only showcased culinary creations from various cultures but also reflected the students’ growing professionalism in managing an end-to-end project. Second and fourth-semester students from Class B exhibited an impressive range of traditional and international dishes at Aula I Wayan Bendi, on Thursday, June 26.

More than just a food tasting experience, the festival invited guests to explore the philosophy, preparation process, and cultural values behind each dish.

Faisal Akbar Zaenal, Head of the Culinary Arts Study Program, emphasized that Food Voyage serves as an interactive, educational, and inspirational platform. “From conceptualizing the theme, producing the food, to directly serving visitors—everything is handled by the students. It’s an opportunity to sharpen both their soft skills and hard skills simultaneously,” he stated.

Faisal further affirmed that Food Voyage is more than an annual event—it is a showcase of an education model aligned with industry standards. “This festival proves that our students are on the right path toward professionalism and high capability in the culinary field,” he added.

Poltekpar’s Vice Director III for Student Affairs, Dr. Syahrial, also praised the students’ work, describing it as worthy of appreciation not just for taste but as the result of an intellectual and collaborative journey. “This is their first step towards success. They are learning how to build relationships and networks, two essential aspects in the tourism and culinary industries,” he said.

Behind the scenes, students went through a rigorous process, including team coordination, crafting narratives for each dish, designing service flow, and handling technical challenges. These obstacles became valuable learning moments that enhanced their resilience and workplace competencies.

The festival also marked a successful cross-functional collaboration, particularly between the Culinary Arts Program and various support units within the campus. “This cooperation enriched the event’s execution while teaching the importance of synergy in achieving optimal results,” Faisal remarked.

Visitors from outside the campus also expressed high praise for the quality and presentation of the dishes. Many commented that SKU students successfully blended cultural elements, aesthetics, and flavors in a harmonious and professional manner.

Through this year’s Food Voyage, Poltekpar Makassar reaffirmed its commitment to producing graduates who are not only technically skilled but also ready to compete in the industry through practical experience and application-based learning. The full coverage of this event can also be found at:
