Politeknik Pariwisata Makassar and PT. Rakusho Co., Ltd. Officially Sign an Internship Agreement for Culinary Students in Japan

Makassar, February 19, 2025 Politeknik Pariwisata Makassar has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with PT. Rakusho Co., Ltd., a Japan-based company that provides internship opportunities for culinary students in the global culinary industry. This collaboration aims to strengthen academic and industry partnerships and offer students valuable international work experience in a professional setting.

The signing ceremony took place at Politeknik Pariwisata Makassar and was attended by institutional leaders and representatives from PT. Rakusho Co., Ltd. Dr. Herry Rachmat Widjaja, MM.Par., CHE, Director of Politeknik Pariwisata Makassar, and Masayoshi Uehara, CEO of PT. Rakusho Co., Ltd., officially signed the agreement. The event was also attended by faculty members and the Culinary Arts Program (Prodi SKU) leadership team, which will oversee this internship program.

This collaboration is designed to provide real-world work experience for students, allowing them to immerse themselves in Japanese culinary culture and understand the professional standards required in the global culinary industry.

As part of the agreement, the Culinary Arts Program at Politeknik Pariwisata Makassar is responsible for selecting and recommending students who meet the qualifications for the internship, and PT. Rakusho Co., Ltd. will provide comprehensive training, placement in relevant operational units, and full administrative support to ensure a successful internship experience.

The internship program will run for up to one year, with the possibility of an extension based on performance evaluations and mutual agreement. Selected students will receive a range of benefits, including:

Monthly Allowance
Accommodation and meals provided throughout the internship
The host company fully covers social and health insurance.
Certificate of Completion upon fulfilling all internship requirements

Additionally, PT. Rakusho Co., Ltd. will assist with visa processing and travel arrangements, ensuring students transition smoothly into their new international work environment.

The signing of this MoU and MoA marks a strategic milestone for the Culinary Arts Program at Politeknik Pariwisata Makassar in expanding its international network and offering students direct exposure to the global culinary industry.

This program enhances students’ technical skills and broadens their perspective on work ethics, discipline, and professional standards in Japan—a country renowned for its precision and excellence in the culinary field.

With this initiative, graduates of Prodi SKU will be more competitive in the global job market, gain a deeper understanding of professional culinary operations, and bring innovative ideas to the Indonesian culinary industry.
